BACKGROUND

Ocean View Community Association Inc. (OVCA) was incorporated as Hawaiian Ocean View Estates Community Association, Inc. (HOVECA) in May of 1969.

The upper area of the two story building has facilities that can accommodate large meetings or banquets. It has a large commercial type kitchen. There is a large stage complete with lighting for plays and entertainment. The lower area has a small meeting room.

In 1999 the name was changed to Ocean View Community Association, Inc (OVCA) to better reflect the larger community served by the organization.

Once known to represent only HOVE (Hawaiian Ocean View Estates), the Ocean View community now refers also to the developments of Hawaiian Ocean View Ranchos, Kahuku County Gardens, Kula Kai View Estates, Kona Gardens, Keone’s Ranchos, and Kona South.

OVCA is a community-based non-profit association, owned by its members. Anyone can become a member who wishes to improve the community of Ocean View. Members live in the community, or nearby, or own property in Ocean View. Many members who support the association live on the neighbor islands or the mainland. OVCA has no paid staff; all workers and board members are volunteers. The current annual budget is approximately $25,000, mostly from member dues, donations and building use. Members’ dues support this website, printing and mailing of a bi-monthly newsletter plus the insurance to maintain this facility.

On August 23, 2001 OVCA received its 501(c)(3) designation from the IRS.

On May 5, 2006 the IRS classified OVCA as a Tax-Exempt Public Charity
