· It organized the original HOVE Volunteer Fire Department (VFD). Over the years, various members of the Board served as VFD firefighters.  The fire department met and trained at the community center until the fire station was built.

· It helped to establish Kahuku Park, and served as its fiduciary agent for many years.

· With help from the County, Tel-Hawaii and BIRCD, it commissioned the “Well Source Report for Ocean View at Kahuku, Hawaii” by Waimea Water service, Inc.

· With grant funding, OVCA purchased fifteen First Responder Kits for the Ocean View Volunteer Firemen, and two Mega First Aid Kits for the fire Department.

· The Gerald and Janet Carrus Foundation of New York awarded OVCA $175,000 to purchase a fully equipped ambulance to be stationed in Ocean View.

· The Carrus foundation also donated funding to OVCA for five defibrillators to be used in the ambulance, on the two fire trucks, at the fire station, and at the community center.

OVCA was the fiduciary agent for and Office of Community Services two-year grant that provides core employment services to low income individuals, and provided the organization with a new van. This was a partnership with Hawai’i State Dept. of Labor (Work Force Development) and the State Dept. of Education (Hilo Community School for Adults).
